Not sure if I sent this to you before or not, but there is on record a legal action that took place back in 1875 in Warren County. Parshall v. Conklin - in the lawsuit it mentions a John F Vaneps selling to Silas Shay deed dated 12/28/1869.
There appears to be various pieces of land but one in particular is referred to as "The Shay" which apparently was 300 acres.
